Sugatu’s Rooftop Solar in 2026: What New Schemes Actually Mean

Rooftop solar conversations shifted dramatically once PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana rolled out targeting one crore households. It's not just another subsidy scheme though - the execution model feels different. Instead of complex vendor selection, households get standardized 2-3 kW systems with direct bank transfers for 60% central subsidy plus state top-ups.

You notice more 3BHK apartments and small shops installing panels on terraces that sat unused for years. A typical setup generates 12-15 units daily which covers fans, lights, fridge and one AC comfortably. The real game changer is zero bills for self-consumption up to 300 units monthly - families suddenly see solar as free power rather than investment.

SMEs benefit equally. Tailors, clinics, photocopy shops, poultry farms - anyone with 100-500 sqm roof can now justify 5-10 kW plants. Net metering rules got simpler too - states like Gujarat, Karnataka and Telangana now allow 100% consumption offsetting without consumption caps.

What's curious is how this creates neighbourhood effects. Once four houses on a street go solar, the fifth follows because installation teams stay local, neighbours share O&M tips, and DISCOM staff get familiar with rooftop paperwork. This is where Sugatu comes in picture. Let’s connect!
